Program Committee
1. Reminder: In January our club will again offer members to order Guild shirts
2. Suggestions were solicited as to how to use our Chapter's $40 education scholarship. After entertaining suggestions given, it was decided that we would offer, $20 scholarships to two members who sign up for David Taylor's class. Jo Loder and Monique Foley signed up for his class and received the scholarships to apply toward the $25 fee.
3. Dale Angione is available to teach a "stack-n-whack" class. She will do the class in two sessions. The first will be to advise students on the type of material and how much to purchase, as well as any additional preparation required for the second class. The second class will be instruction on the stack-n-whack technique. A show of hands of those who would be interested in the class indicated that at least 10 would be interested. Paula advised that the class has to be written up in the Villages Recreation News prior to being held. 4. Paula announced that Joan Shay was scheduled to hold a class on Petal Play on a Wednesday in April for the Quilting Sisters Guild in Leesburg. Paula suggested that there would be enough space in the Quilting Sisters' class for anyone from Allamanda who is interested in Joan's class therefore making it unnecessary to sign a contract with her for the QGOTV. For those unfamiliar, here is a link to Joan's website:

5. Discussion ensued regarding the lack of interest by Guild members in attending classes and the suggestion that we discontinue the practice of contracting with national quilt teachers. Some thoughts regarding the lack of interest were that there are so many activities in the Villages, that people aren't able to devote as much time to any one activity; poor marketing and communication regarding the classes was also given as a possible cause; the use of the web was also suggested and Marilyn Paluszak offered to assist Micki in marketing and attend Guild meetings with her.
6. It was remarked that Micki has done much more to market and communicate about classes than has been done in the past year. It was suggested that under Micki's leadership, the Program Committee will be much more effective and successful.
In Jan Bartus's absence, Paula passed out Showcase Volunteer sheets to those volunteers present.
Marlene Jensch provided an update regarding the procedure for individuals' wanting to sell items in the Showcase of Quilts boutique. For more detailed information, please see the attached documents.
Several ladies displayed their handiwork at Show and Tell. Marilyn Paluszak will upload the pictures on the Allamanda website. http://www.myvillageclub.com/allamanda.html
Paula reminded members that only quilting supplies and the library that Marlene Jensch is developing are to be stored in our storage room. Also a reminder that irons must be unplugged by 2:30 p.m. so they may cool down before they are stored away after meetings.
The meeting was adjourned.
